IGERT Program Milestones

The IGERT proposed here seeks to create the human resource needed to take advantage of these opportunities. The new program will have the following specific goals:

  1. To train graduate students from Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Food Science in the innovative interdisciplinary area of Nanopharmaceutical Science and Engineering, imparting them with a strong scientific foundation for the design and development of a wide array of nanotechnology-based biocompatible products with advanced drug delivery functionality.
  2. To establish an effective administrative system for a multi-university graduate education program that integrates the participating disciplines while facilitating scientific and professional student development.
  3. To design a model program for inclusion and participation of minorities and women at all levels (K-12, pre-graduate, graduate, post graduate, faculty) through creative partnerships and outreach activities, effective recruiting and retention, mentoring, and role modeling.
