Application of numerical methods and artificial intelligence in chemical process
planning.
Teacher of graduate and undergraduate courses in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. Research interests are in the fields of computer applications in chemical and biochemical engineering, artificial intelligence, process modeling and optimization, biotechnology, fermentations, and enzyme engineering. Industrial experience in process development and design of large petrochemical plants and in pilot plant research. Consultant to industry in the areas fermentation processes, enzyme engineering, application of artificial intelligence in chemical process planning, design and economics of chemical processes, technology assessment, modeling and optimization. Author of the textbooks "Numerical Methods for Chemical Engineers with MATLAB Applications" and "Applied Numerical Methods with Personal Computers."
Director of the Microcomputer Laboratory. Past Chairman of the Department (1996-2002).
Recipient of the prestigious Warren I. Susman Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the 1998, 1999, and 2003 Teaching Excellence Awards chosen by the Graduating Senior Class of the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering . |
