Gene silencing technologies, nanobiotechnology, systems biology of liver

Our laboratory has a major focus in the development and application of gene silencing using antisense oligonucleotides and short interfering RNAs. We perform both modeling and experimental studies of oligonucleotide interactions with polymeric delivery agents and with target mRNA species. We are developing nanostructured, multifunctional delivery systems that target oligonucleotides to tumors while also bearing imaging and therapeutic functionalities. Other projects in the laboratory include cell cycle modeling of cancer chemotherapeutics and metabolic engineering of liver cells.
