Research involves innovative solutions to environmental problems. The in-depth understanding of environmental processes requires an interdisciplinary approach, which includes background in the biological, chemical and physical sciences as well as in legal and social issues. Projects include: hazardous waste management; incinerator ash management; chemical and biochemical processes in soil groundwater systems; in-situ remediation processes; aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation processes; advanced environmental analytical techniques; metal recovery from incinerator ash; multiphase partitioning in environmental systems; source reduction and waste minimization; safety and health management; emulsion liquid membrane separations in wastewater purification; transport and kinetics of pollutants in the air; and biochemodynamics.
