AlumniThis year we organized for the first time an Alumni Day, on May 17, for all the alumni of the Department, in conjunction with the University Reunion weekend. A reception for the alumni was organized in the Chemical Environmental Research and Teaching Laboratories in the C-wing of the College of Engineering Building. We had a very pleasant afternoon of reunions with old friends, classmates, and professors. Our guests of honor at this reception were Professor Joseph Stett, the founder and first chairman of the Department, and Professor Frank Dittman, Professor Emeritus. Between the two of them, they have 58 years of service to Rutgers and the Department. After the reception, we conducted guided tours of the C-wing to show the alumni our state-of-the-art facilities, which include the Biotechnology Laboratories, the Environmental Engineering facilities, the new Unit Operations Laboratories, the very new (still under construction) Pharmaceutical Engineering research area, the Polymer Engineering research facilities, and the Microcomputer Laboratories. A total of eighty people (forty alumni and their families) attended these activities. | |
