research facilities of the Department are housed in a
renovated, three story complex located in the C-wing of the
College of Engineering. The state-of-the-art analytical
support equipment includes AFM, TGA, Di-electric analyzer,
WAXD, spotter coater, spin coater, carver hydraulic press,
computerized GC/MS, HPLC, AA, TOC, IC, porosity analyzer,
GC analyzers, DSC, stress rheometer, light scattering
apparatus, dissolution test station, particle velocimeter,
Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, and UV-Vis
spectrophotometer. The biotechnology facilities of the
department and participating institutes and centers are
among the finest in the world. These include laboratory and
pilot scale facilities for the following: fermentation; cell culture
and bioseparations; biomaterials development; flow
cytometry and cell storing; DNA synthesis and protein
microchemistry; X-ray diffraction and bioimaging; super
minicomputers for molecular modeling and computation;
